Callender Lake is one of the best kept secrets of East Texas. It is approximately 20 minutes from Athens on the southwest, 45 minutes from Tyler on the East and it is almost centrally located between Shreveport, Louisiana on the East and the DFW Metroplex on the West. The lake is about one and one-half hours from the DFW Metroplex and approximately two hours from Shreveport. Other nearby towns are Murchison on the south, Edom on the east and Ben Wheeler on the north.

Callender Lake a 385 acre private lake, is one of the few lakes in Texas that is considered to be a constant level lake, as it is fed by natural springs and several different streams and water sources.
The lake is both a fishing and recreational lake. Jet skis, sailing boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats and other small boats are allowed.

The only thing more beautiful than the piney woods of East Texas is a gated lake community in the piney woods of East Texas.

Only residents of Callender Lake have access to the use of the lake and the safety of a gated community.

Callender Lake property owners have full use of all recreational facilities including a Community Center, boat storage area, boat launch ramp, children’s park, fishing park with a regulation horse shoe pit, barbecue pit, & benches and a swim beach/park, with picnic tables and rest rooms.
Fire protection for Callender Lake is provided by the Edom VFD. An auxiliary station is located just outside the gated perimeter of the Callender Lake area and is equipped with a heliport (landing pad) for emergency medical air evacuation helicopters.

The Lake is stocked each year with bass, catfish and crappie so the fishing is always good at Callender Lake. Modest Association fees of $295 per year for improved lots make Callender Lake the most affordable gated lake community to live at in East Texas.
