Callender Lake is one of the best kept secrets of East Texas. It is approximately 20 minutes from Athens on the southwest, 45 minutes from Tyler on the East and it is almost centrally located between Shreveport, Louisiana on the East and the DFW Metroplex on the West. The lake is about one and one-half hours from the DFW Metroplex and approximately two hours from Shreveport. Other nearby towns are Murchison on the south, Edom on the east and Ben Wheeler on the north.

Callender Lake. a 385 acre private lake, is one of the few lakes in Texas that is considered to be a constant level lake, as it is fed by natural springs and several different streams and water sources.

The lake is both a fishing and recreational lake. Jet skis, sailing boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats and other small boats are allowed.
