CALLENDER LAKE BOATING REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY BOTH CALLENDER LAKE & HICKORY HILLS SUB-DIVISIONS

 THESE LAKE REGULATIONS ARE CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW BY THE JOINT FISH & WILDLIFE COMMITTEES

 

1.All RESIDENT owned watercraft, (proof of ownership required) will be issued a numbered decal at no cost which will be affixed to the watercraft near the area of the registration number prior to entering the lake.  Those resident's watercraft found in the lake without a decal may be subject to a fine of $50.00 for failure to display their decal.

2. All RESIDENT’S wishing to have a guest craft ( limited to 1 craft per guest) per homeowner on the lake must obtain a guest pass/permit from the office/or gate prior to allowing the craft on the lake.  Each pass shall be in two parts.  One part to be placed on the vehicle parked at the boat ramp and the other to be placed on the visiting craft.  Each pass shall be for a limited time and shall be registered under the residents' name and property.  Each resident shall be responsible for their guest.  All paperwork and permits must be obtained through the office prior to any guest of a resident entering the property with any watercraft.

3. Each resident must obtain a permit for any motor-powered watercraft they currently own and want to put in the lake.  All residents will be issued two (2) permits.  Any resident currently owning more than two (2) watercraft will be allowed additional permits to be grandfathered provided they have proof of ownership and/or sign a statement of ownership, and all watercraft must be registered at the same time as the two (2) original permits are issued.

4. All watercraft will observe a NO WAKE ZONE! These zones are located near the rear portion of the lake by the island, designated swimming areas, and will be marked by buoys.  Additional NO WAKE ZONES are within 50 feet of the shoreline and all docks or piers.

 

5. All personal flotation devices must be U. S. Coast Guard Approved.

6. All persons under the age of 13 must have a personal flotation device on while underway.

7. All watercraft will have at least one (1) flotation device on board for each person on the craft. 

8. All watercraft having closed compartments under the seat and thwarts where in portable fuel tanks may be stored and those crafts here-in portable fuel tanks may be stored and those crafts having closed living spaces must have at least one (1) fire extinguisher on board.  It is recommended that all watercraft have an extinguisher on board.

 9. It is unlawful to operate a watercraft on the lake under the following conditions:

  • at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent or greater than will be permit him/her from bringing the craft to a stop within the assured clear distance ahead.
  • so as to cause a hazardous wake or wash
  • in a circular course around another craft whole occupant is fishing or around any person swimming.
  • in an area designated for swimming or otherwise restricted.
  • towing a person on water-skis, surfboards, etc
  • at anytime between the house of sunset and sunrise.
  • while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • in a willful or wanton disregard of the rights or safety of others at a speed or in a manner to endanger or be likely to endanger any person or property
  • with over 10 horsepower by an operator under the age of 16 unless accompanied by a person 18 or older

10. LIGHTS

  • ALL POWER DRIVEN VESSELS WILL SHOW THE STANDARD NAVIGATION LIGHTS (RED ON BOW PORT SIDE, GREEN ON BOW STARBOARD SIDE, AND WHITE AFT) WHEN ON THE LAKE DURING THE HOURS BETWEEN SUNSET AND SUNRISE.
  • ALL NON-POWERED WATERCRAFT SHALL HAVE AT LEAST ONE WHITE, FLASHLIGHT, LANTERN, ETC. FOR USE IN SIGNALING OTHER APPROACHING WATERCRAFT DURING THE HOURS BETWEEN SUNSET & SUNRISE.
  • ALL WATERCRAFT WILL HAVE A WHITE LIGHT, IF ANCHORED. IT SHOULD BE VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES (360 DEGREES) AROUND THE WATERCRAFT.

11. FROM TIME TO TIME THE SUBDIVISIONS WILL ASSIGN PATROLS OR SECURITY PERSONNEL TO CHECK WATERCRAFT AT THE LAUNCHING AREA AND ON THE WATER TO ENSURE THEIR COOPERATION AND COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES. USE OF CAM RECORDERS WITH RECORDING DEVICES MAY BE USED BY THESE PATROLS AND SUBMITTED AS DOCUMENTATION TO THE BOARDS FOR THEIR ACTION. RESIDENTS OR THEIR GUESTS MAY BE REQUIRED TO SHOW PROOF OF COMPLETION OF TEXAS REQUIRED WATERCRAFT COURSES AND PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICES. INABILITY TO PRODUCE EITHER WILL BE A VIOLATION OF THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS.

AS OF SEPT 1, 2000                          BOATERS YOUNGER THAN 17 YEARS

AS OF SEPT 1, 2001                          BOATERS YOUNGER THAN 18 YEARS

 12.  DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR THE USE OF DRUGS WHILE  OPERATING A WATERCRAFT IS PROHIBITED.

 13.  FAILURE BY RESIDENTS OR THEIR GUESTS TO ABIDE BY AND OBEY ANY OF THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN FINES OF $50.00 PER OCCURRENCE, TO BE BILLED TO THE RESIDENT BY THE ASSOCIATION BOARD.
