Best Kept Secret in East Texas
Map and Directions
From the Metroplex take I-20 east to Canton and from Shreveport take I-20 west to
Canton. Canton is the home of the well known First Monday Trade Days.
From Canton there are several ways to reach Callender Lake.
Travel southeast on State Highway 19 for approximately 5 miles to Walton. Take a left
on FM 1861 and travel approximately 5 miles until you meet FM 2339. Turn east on
FM2339 and drive approximately 9 miles crossing FM 773 just prior to arriving at the
lake. The first entrance you see will be the Hickory Hills sub-division; the second will
be the Callender Lake subdivision.
Travel southeast on State Highway 64 to Ben Wheeler, then south on FM 773 to
FM2339. Turn east on FM2339 and travel approximately 1.7 miles.
Travel southeast on State Highway 64 to Ben Wheeler, then take FM 279 to Edom.
Arriving at Edom take FM2339 west, approximately 5 miles to the Callender Lake
entrance.
From Tyler there are two main routes to the lake.
Take State Highway 64 towards Canton. Shortly after passing Midway FM 314 will
intersect HW 64. Turn left at the flashing light and travel to FM 279. Turn right until
intersecting FM2339; turn left and travel approximately 5 miles.
Take Highway 31 West to Brownsboro until you reach the FM314 junction. Turn right
on FM314 and go until you intersect FM279(Edom). Turn left on FM279 to FM2339.
Turn left on FM2339 and travel approximately 5 miles.
If you are traveling from Austin, Houston, San Antonio etc take either I-35 or I-45 to
Corsicana. Take the Highway 31 exit towards Tyler and travel through Athens to
Murchison. FM 773 will intersect HW31 in Murchison. Turn left on FM773 to FM2339.
Turn east on FM2339 and travel approximately 1.7 miles.
