We are sad to share this news on behalf of C.A. Cockrell’s family:
This is Sherri Gallant. I am the daughter of C.A. Cockrell, III. I have the sad news to relay in that my dad passed away this past Sunday, October 3rd. Our family has lost a dad, granddad, hero and friend but rejoice that he has been reunited with my mom, his wife Betty of 65 years who passed away also in October of 2017 along with my brother who we lost to cancer in 2013. He was a good and faithful servant of the Lord and we know that he is setting at the table with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was the smartest man I knew and so quick witted. My heart is broken.
I am not sure if you know or not, but he was the President of the HOA for 12 years. He and my mom loved the Lake very much and our family has too many memories to count of our time at the lake. My husband and I will continue on that tradition with our kids at Callender Lake.
My dad’s service will be Thursday, October 14th at 2 pm with viewing at 1 pm at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive in Arlington, Texas. The service will be streamed online and Ithere will be a link for this on Moore Funeral Home website. The service was delayed so that my dad could have full military honors at his burial at the DFW Veterans Cemetery in Dallas which will take place on Friday the 15th at 9 am. Due to his 26 plus years in the Air Force and his multiple tours in Viet Nam, he will receive the 21 gun salute, Air Force Pallbearers, Taps and the folding of the American Flag. No one is more worthy than this honor and I am proud that the United States Air Force is making sure he will receive it. Due to Covid restrictions it wasn’t guaranteed at this time, so we are thrilled that he is getting it.
Again, please know that my parents loved the lake, the community and everything lake!
