Twenty three Callender Lake residents and friends worked on the Information Station Beautification Project on Saturday morning, June 6, 2015. They outlined the path through the station and the two planting beds with river rocks, buried soaker hoses, and planted perennial variegated vinca and nandina. The plants were furnished by Jerad, who donated the vinca and made us a very good price on the nandinas.
Mike Bromhall had donated and installed irrigation in the two planting beds two weeks earlier. Dave and Gloria Beck made a special donation of work around the sanitary station, planting Dallas Lantana and liriope donated by Susan Reid. By late morning, the work was largely complete, so we adjourned to the Community Center where volunteers actually hand-made sandwiches for the hungry, tired landscapers. After lunch an intrepid few stayed to water in the new plants and tidy up the worksite. Drop by the Information Station and see if you don’t think it looks LOTS better.
These volunteers deserve our appreciation for making major contributions to the project: Dave and Gloria Beck; Dick and Greg Bolle; Robert and Barbara Conley; John Ellerbe; Liza Ely; Bill and Ann Faulkner; Ed and Rica Garcia; John Harwood; Don Hollis and Ramona Freeman; Eddie Hueston; Jan Marler; Sandy Mittelstet; Joe Pritchett and Chuy; Susan Reid; Becky Sossamon; Tilla Strickland; and Karen Wanzer.
