Callender Lake will host the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Precinct 4 Crime Watch Patrol meeting on Thursday, October 8th at 7 p.m. They will be meeting in our Community Center.
This program is operated out of the Sheriff’s Office and manned strictly by volunteers. It is considered “The Eyes and Ears of the Community” in assisting the Sheriff’s department to help prevent crime and report criminal activities.
For those who didn’t know, Van Zandt County is 859 square miles in size, 70 percent the size of Rhode Island, with a population of over 55,000 people. Approximately 97 percent of the crimes in the county are property crimes, meaning burglary, theft or auto theft.
Van Zandt County is divided into 4 precincts. There are currently 350 member of the Precinct Watch Program (PWP) countywide. PWP is operated by volunteers who drive their designated areas in their own vehicles with PWP signage on the vehicle.
The crime rate in Van Zandt County has been reduced by 54% since the Crime Watch has been in place.
Callender Lake is in the Precinct 4 Crime Watch area. Please plan on attending the meeting to show our community support, find out what and where crime is happening in our precinct, and consider volunteering for this program.
