The Lake at Callender Lake

Callender Lake is one of the few lakes in Texas that is considered to be a constant level lake, as it is fed by natural springs and several different streams and water sources.  The water level varies from a depth of 2-18 feet. The State of Texas does not allow any water diversion (pumping from the lake) for any reason.  The lake is managed by a “joint” CLPOIA/HHPOIA Fish & Wildlife Committee and is regularly stocked with a variation of fish. The Fish & Wildlife Committee also monitors all lake vegetation and fish habitats. Funds for this maintenance are provided by an annual fish fry hosted by both subdivisions. Fishing is allowed from both boats and fishing piers but is reserved for residents and guest only and no professional guides are authorized on the lake.

The lake is both a fishing and recreational lake. Jet skis, sailing boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats and other small boats are allowed.

Because of the size and depth of the lake, large watercraft are not recommended because they induce large wakes that damage retaining walls and create unnecessary erosion of the dam.
